Today I also walked from Date-monbetsu Station to Sobetsu Station so I will write with photos.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P>Iburi Line is railroad line that completed screenable in <TIME>1941<\/TIME>, abolished in <TIME>1986<\/TIME>. The section I walked today is 10.3km from railhead Date-monbetsu Station to Sobetsu Station via Kami-nagawa Station (\u4e0a\u9577\u548c\u99c5, kami nagawa eki).<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514045720P5145740l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514045720P5145740s.JPG\" alt=\"20100514045720P5145740.JPG\" height=\"240\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111001l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111001s.png\" height=\"230\" alt=\"2011111001.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nStart point is Date-monbetsu Station the railhead of Iburi Line. Date-monbetsu Station opened at <TIME datetime=\"1925-08-20\">august 20 1925<\/TIME> as JNR Osawa East Line (\u9577\u8f2a\u6771\u7dda, osawa higashi sen). At the time of establishment of Date-monbetsu station, east and west inhabitants quarrel about station point, they decided to make into the point is center of their opinion. they need superfluous money to construction because it point is a meeting place of Monbetsu River (\u7d0b\u5225\u5ddd, monbetsu gawa) and Kimonbetsu River (\u6c17\u9580\u5225\u5ddd, kimonbetsu gawa) (<A href=\"http:\/\/maps.gsi.go.jp\/?ll=42.467222,140.860278&#038;z=16&#038;base=std&#038;vs=c1j0l0u0\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"a meeting place of Monbetsu River and Kimonbetsu River\">map<\/A>). Inhabitants needed to donate this money, but they couldn&#8217;t it, so at last JNR decided the current point. The line name change to Osawa Line (\u9577\u8f2a\u7dda, osawa sen) at <TIME datetime=\"1928-09-10\">September 10 1928<\/TIME>, to Muroran Main Line (\u5ba4\u862d\u672c\u7dda, muroran honsen) at <TIME datetime=\"1931-04-01\">April 1 1931<\/TIME>, reach at present. This station is working as stasion of Muroran Main Line now, and station building that still appearance at time of opening registered as Modern Civil Engineering Heritage in Japan. The track of Iburi Line goes to direction of railhead of Muroran Main Line, means the line goes to right of the photo.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514050632P5145749-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514050632P5145749-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100514050632P5145749-2.JPG\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111002l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111002s.png\" alt=\"2011111002.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nIburi Line leaves Date-monbetsu Station and branched from Muroran Main Line, reach first level crossing. The track from Muroran Main Line to the crossing had become a company&#8217;s ground, but after the crossing, the track had become cycling road.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521054850DSC_0002-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521054850DSC_0002-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521054850DSC_0002-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nI enter to cycling road and look at left, there is tiny park. I heard to had displayed wheel of train here. There is a boom barrier on front of park. but direction is wrong and in the first place here desn&#8217;t crossing with road, so it seems to has been moved from other place.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521055348DSC_0006-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521055348DSC_0006-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521055348DSC_0006-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nThe cycling road that is site of Iburi Line go straight with cherry blossoms. It&#8217;s surprisingly many walks and jogging though the time is still 5 am.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514051000P5145751-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514051000P5145751-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100514051000P5145751-2.JPG\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111003l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111003s.png\" alt=\"2011111003.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nAlthough it is halfway through cherry blossoms, I will pass through the culvert here. It is obviously lower than the height of the train, but that only natural. The road that goes above the Iburi Line has finished to complete only 3 or 4 years ago. It is still under construction in the latest version of the topographic map. Naturally there was no culvert when the train was running.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514051036P5145752-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514051036P5145752-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100514051036P5145752-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nThere is a genuine overpass immediately after the culvert. I can be read a character of &#8220;2&#8221; which well even though it is thin. It seems that here is 2 km from Date-monbetsu Station.\r\n<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521060356DSC_0014-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521060356DSC_0014-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521060356DSC_0014-2.JPG\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111005l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111005s.png\" alt=\"2011111005.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nI cross Osaru River (\u9577\u6d41\u5ddd, osaru gawa) here. The bridge which was the that time was removed and a new bridge &#8220;Chiririn Bridge (\u3061\u308a\u308a\u3093\u6a4b, chiririn bashi)&#8221; for the cycling road was built. According to <A href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20080206144856\/http:\/\/ako-kz.cool.ne.jp\/z\/02i_1a.htm\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"ako_kz\u306e\u30db\u30fc\u30e0\u30da\u30f1\u30b8\u3000\u2015\u30ab\u30d6\uff0c\u5efa\u7bc9\u7269\uff0c\u9244\u9053\uff0c\u5ec3\u7dda\u63a2\u8a2a\uff0c\u30db\u30fc\u30ed\u30fc\u770b\u677f\uff0c\u65c5\u884c\u2015\">ako_kz\u306e\u30db\u30fc\u30e0\u30da\u30f1\u30b8\u3000\u2015\u30ab\u30d6\uff0c\u5efa\u7bc9\u7269\uff0c\u9244\u9053\uff0c\u5ec3\u7dda\u63a2\u8a2a\uff0c\u30db\u30fc\u30ed\u30fc\u770b\u677f\uff0c\u65c5\u884c\u2015<\/A>, the name of the bridge in the age of Iburi Line was &#8220;No.5 Osaru River Bridge&#8221;.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521074918DSC_0043-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521074918DSC_0043-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521074918DSC_0043-2.JPG\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111006l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111006s.png\" alt=\"2011111006.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nIs this rusty thing standing from before the abolition? Level crossing of nostalgic no boom barrier. That is Hokkaido Expressway (\u9053\u592e\u81ea\u52d5\u8eca\u9053, d\u014d&#8217;\u014d jid\u014ddha d\u014d) Osaru-gawa Bridge (\u9577\u6d41\u5ddd\u6a4b, osaru gawa bashi). It seems to be the longest in Japan on the highway bridge. A location marker remained before the bridge. The distance marker I saw at 2km point from Monbetsu station ahead is &#8220;Type Kou location marker (\u7532\u53f7\u8ddd\u96e2\u6a19, k\u014dg\u014d kyorihy\u014d)&#8221; which set every 1km, we found this time is &#8220;Type Otsu location marker (\u4e59\u53f7\u8ddd\u96e2\u6a19, otsug\u014d kyorihy\u014d)&#8221; which set every x.5km. Because I can read 3 under 1\/2, I can know that it is 3.5km from Date-monbetsu Station.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521062122DSC_0020-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521062122DSC_0020-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521062122DSC_0020-2.JPG\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111008l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111008s.png\" alt=\"2011111008.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nAfter going through the expressway and proceeding through the rural districts for a while, I left Date-monbetsu Station and arrived at the first station. It opened as Kami-osaru railway stop of the Iburi Traverse Railway, promoted to the station at <TIME datetime=\"1944-07-01\">July 1 1944<\/TIME>, renamed to Kami-nagawa Station at <TIME datetime=\"1959-10-10\">October 10 1959<\/TIME>. It was buried in bushes, I didn&#8217;t notice when I walked first time. I&#8217;m sorry for uploaded image was blurred, it was 6km.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521063132DSC_0025-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521063132DSC_0025-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521063132DSC_0025-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nWell, it&#8217;s the end of the cycling road. The cycling road turned right and disappeared into the culvert, but Iburi Line went straight. There is an intersection of prefectural road 981 and prefectural road 703 on the embankment, but neither road was not embankment nor opened, only another road crossed the plane crossing when Iburi Line was abolished.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521063250DSC_0027l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521063250DSC_0027s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521063250DSC_0027.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nFollow the cycling road and through the culvert, I reach road and the cycling road end. I can return soon as turn left to follow Iburi Line.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521063408DSC_0028-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/21\/20100521063408DSC_0028-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100521063408DSC_0028-2.JPG\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111011l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2011\/11\/10\/2011111011s.png\" alt=\"2011111011.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nIt&#8217;s continuation of Iburi Line. A small location marker that is different that I have seen is marker that set every 100m as type Hei location marker (\u4e19\u53f7\u8ddd\u96e2\u6a19, heig\u014d kyorihy\u014d). The location marker of photo is &#8220;4&#8221; so it is x.4km from the starting point. It is probably 6.4km from Date-monbetsu station because it&#8217;s just past location marker of 6km.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514060242P5145775-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2010\/05\/14\/20100514060242P5145775-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20100514060242P5145775-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nAfter this, the Iburi Line separate from the farm road, and push into the bush. The ruts are stamped to the scraped traces, so someone may have brought agricultural vehicle into field of back. It&#8217;s 8km. The site of the station is currently located in Sobetsu Town&#8217;s office, and traces like station couldn&#8217;t be found. Although I heard that the platform remained until a few years ago, it may have been removed when construction of office that have used from <TIME>2009<\/TIME>.<BR>\r\nToday is until here.
