Once upon a time, this village was prospering with the fishery of herring, but now this village has been depopulated, and a rank of the lebel financial capability index is the minimum level in Japan. Irrelevant to the it, landform has been placing tiny capes, bays and settlements. The old road that hold in Cape Atchase(\u539a\u702c\u5d0e, Atchase-zaki) located between Minato (\u6e2f) and Sakaeiso (\u6804\u78ef) is todays arena. I&#8217;m not interested in abolishing road in this year, so I drop in during my boom fukuroma (\u888b\u6f97, one of fishery ruins) tours. By the way, &#8220;Minato&#8221; do NOT mean &#8220;port&#8221; but the address (port called &#8220;minato&#8221; (\u6e2f) in Japanese).<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/09\/15\/20150915101744DSC_0239-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/09\/15\/20150915101744DSC_0239-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20150915101744DSC_0239-2.JPG\" \/><\/A> <A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/2015120816l.png\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/2015120816s.png\" alt=\"2015120816.png\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\n<ASIDE style=\"display:inline;\">\u203bIt&#8217;s summer.<\/ASIDE> Minato side of Cape Atchase. left of picture, the land side tunnel is atchase tunnnel (\u539a\u702c\u30c8\u30f3\u30cd\u30eb, atchase tonnneru) completed in <TIME datetime=\"1965-12\">December 1954.<\/TIME>. 5.5m width, 4.5m height. It&#8217;s normal size of national road No.229 (\u56fd\u9053229\u53f7) of their era. 5.5m of tow lane, that is 2.75m one lane is the minimum width that &#8220;road structure ordinance&#8221; (\u9053\u8def\u69cb\u9020\u4ee4, d\u014drok\u014dz\u014dr\u0113) approved. I can understand it&#8217;s less traffic very much in the past, because the road structure ordinance stipulate width by traffic. Reasonable at completed this tunnel, the road between Setana town(\u305b\u305f\u306a\u753a, setana ch\u014d) and this town that through Cape Motuta (\u8302\u6d25\u591a\u5cac, motsuta misaki) under construction. Simamaki village is dead end view from Suttsu town(\u5bff\u90fd\u753a, Suttsu ch\u014d), so in fact, though it was national road, I think traffic was little. Construction was impregnable, but it&#8217;s opened in 1976.  I think the road was needing new tunnel circumstance in increase traffic and speed. In <TIME datetime=\"1996-05\">May, 1996<\/TIME>shin atchase tunnel (\u65b0\u539a\u702c\u30c8\u30f3\u30cd\u30eb) completed beside the sea side of old one, and it have become for each inbound and outbound respectively.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/09\/15\/20150915101844DSC_0241-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/09\/15\/20150915101844DSC_0241-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20150915101844DSC_0241-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\n<ASIDE style=\"display:inline;\">\u203bTedious it&#8217;s summer.<\/ASIDE> Old way continues side of sin-atchase tunnel (\u65b0\u539a\u702c\u30c8\u30f3\u30cd\u30eb) . As much as possible do not make up downs and tunnels, road is being surrounded around cape spontaneously.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208094140DSC_0086-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208094140DSC_0086-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20151208094140DSC_0086-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\n<ASIDE style=\"display:inline;\">\u203bFrom here, it\u2019s winter.<\/ASIDE> I think nobody notice that here is road without discolor road closed sign set in entrance of the old road. I think so because hard bush, no footprint, and no atmosphere. I think not need the sign because the road became so. Rather road became nature almost, but we are exposed it&#8217;s road by sign.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208102138DSC_0249-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208102138DSC_0249-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20151208102138DSC_0249-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nThe cape is Surrounded by cliffs, and the road has made under this. The criff is consists of fragile agglomerate, so many rocks that various sizes has been fallen. I have fear suddenly because I am concerned how large cracks in outcrop.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208093340DSC_0079-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208093340DSC_0079-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20151208093340DSC_0079-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nIt looks no spaces so the road reclaimed with stone wall followed by many. White concrete in front of the stone wall is road for the construction of breakwaters. There are cliffs and bushes behind the stone wall, but in front, there is new construction. I can observe from current road up to here. What has become the destination. No.1 tunnel is slightly smaller but longest tunnel in 3 tunnels on this old road. Embankment that broken place has restored by huge sandbag. I don\u2019t think the intention is to open the road, why they restored? Sorry for the copy was not good at because it\u2019s too thick book. This book, published in 1918, so the tunnel exists from about 1century ago. Scrutinize carefully, there is excavated to lower elevation and narrow width than now, and it looks not for the car or cart but for pedestrian. There has been a large rock tower just right side. I arrive west slope of the cape to pass deep col and sharp curve, then I can see Sakaeiso (\u6804\u78ef).\r\n Incidentally, Atchase (\u539a\u702c) refers to Minato (\u6e2f) originally, but In <TIME datetime=\"1933\">1933<\/TIME> administration changed to current landname Minato (\u6e2f) . Sakaeiso(\u6804\u78ef) was calling Kaijishi (or kaijishi, \u98fc\u9e7f) until this time. I think &#8220;atchase&#8221; likes Ainu language, but meaning not explained by Hosei Nagada and Hidezo Yamada <ASIDE style=\"display:inline;\">(Both famous Ainu language researcher)<\/ASIDE> In &#8220;t\u014dzai ezo sansen chiri torishirabezu&#8221; (\u6771\u897f\u8766\u5937\u5c71\u5ddd\u5730\u7406\u53d6\u8abf\u56f3)  , Minato is Achiyarase <ASIDE style=\"display:inline;\">(charase is litle water fall in Ainu lang.) <\/ASIDE>, so I think it isll in Atchase\u201d, I thi related small river. &#8220;saik\u014d ezo nisshi&#8221; (\u518d\u822a\u8766\u5937\u65e5\u8a8c) has described  &#8220;there is a little waterfall in Atchase&#8221;, I think Charase means this water fall. But now when pass the cape and went to southern slope , it&#8217;s hot because no wind but rather strong sunshine. I have dead if I&#8217;m a rabbit because intense conversion of the environment. However stone wall continue too, I became a newbe stone wall geek so I glad.<\/P>\r\n<HR class=\"pause\">\r\n\r\n<P><A href=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208104608DSC_0296-2l.JPG\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"colorbox\"><IMG src=\"https:\/\/morigen.net\/blog\/image\/2015\/12\/08\/20151208104608DSC_0296-2s.JPG\" alt=\"20151208104608DSC_0296-2.JPG\" \/><\/A><BR>\r\nI have back current road. I read this old road built in part of between Suttsu (\u5bff\u90fd) and Shimamaki(\u5cf6\u7267) road construction started in <TIME datetime=\"1898\">1898<\/TIME>. In <TIME datetime=\"1898\">1928<\/TIME> bus start going here, the road had remade for car before this year. People depend on marine traffic before complete the road, monochrome photo  was taken in just good timing. The road guard land traffic with tunnels and stone walls from the tidal wave until year of attyase tunnel onpened (<TIME datetime=\"1965\">1965<\/TIME>) about 40 years&#8217; worth of scar remain as many epair marks of stone walls. It&#8217;s from half century. The road was abolished by people reasons. But sea attacks with storm and tsunami independently of people reasons. and damage is conspicuous on the stone wall.
